Yuxuan was born and raised in Beijing, China. He received his B.S. in Chemistry at Nankai University where he worked with Prof. Dongsheng Guo on Calixarene-based advanced function materials for cancer imaging and treatment. He was also a visiting student in Prof. Phil Baran’s lab at The Scripps Research Institute for half a year working on 1,2-difunctionalization of bicyclo[1.1.1]pentanes as mimics for ortho/meta-substituted arenes. He joined the Matthews lab in January 2022. In his spare time, he enjoys playing piano, basketball, board games and outdoor activities
